Newly renovated London Bridge Station concourse opens today - after four years in the making
Today (Monday 29th) will see two-thirds of the new concourse opened to the public as part of the station's £1bn redevelopment, much to the relief of commuters.
The lavish glass, concrete and wooden redesign is part of Network Rail’s £7bn government-funded Thameslink project, which will increase capacity on commuter routes running through St Pancras station between the north and south of the capital.
Charing Cross trains – via Waterloo East – will start calling at London Bridge again for the first time in 18 months.
But work will now focus on the north side of the station and some Southeastern services will be affected. This will include trains to Cannon Street, which won't run from the station until January 2018, when the project is due for completion.
